Tech Chasing: When an opponent hits the ground, they must "tech" (roll left, roll right, or get up in place). A Melee 102 player learns to read these habits. For example, a Captain Falcon player learns to re-grab a Fox player who habitually rolls behind them.
DI (Directional Influence): At the 101 level, players simply accept being hit. At the 102 level, players use DI to survive longer. They hold the control stick perpendicular to the launch angle to alter their trajectory. Conversely, the attacker must predict this DI to extend their combo.
