SSC Service Utility 450 — Overview and Write-up
- Waste Ink Pads: Resetting the counter tells the printer the pads are empty, but it does not physically clean them. If your printer is actually leaking ink or the pads are saturated, resetting the counter without replacing or cleaning the pads can cause ink to overflow and damage your printer or desk.
- Software Compatibility: SSC Service Utility is quite old (last updated around 2008-2010). It was designed for older Epson models. It may not work correctly on newer L-series printers (like the L455), which often require the official Epson Adjustment Program or the WIC Reset Utility.

- Go to the "Ink Monitor" tab.
- Click "Refresh" to see ink levels.
- Go to "Head Cleaning" > "Powerful cleaning" (or "Initial fill" if you just installed a new print head).
- The printer will roar to life for 60 seconds.
- Print a nozzle check pattern. Repeat if necessary, but never do more than 3 powerful cleanings in one day.
