How to Use a Shimeji Directory: A Step-by-Step Guide
- Install Java: You need Java 8 or 11 (not the newest version). Download from Adoptium or Oracle’s archive.
- Get the Base Engine: Download
Shimeji-EE.jar or GroupPicShimeji.jar. Do not use custom launchers from unknown directories.
- Extract the Character: Download a character
.zip or .rar. Inside, you should see a folder named img and an conf folder. Do not just extract the JAR.
- Place in the Right Folder: Put the character’s folder inside the
shimeji/ directory where your engine JAR lives.
- Run and Test: Double-click the JAR. If nothing happens, open Command Prompt/Terminal and run
java -jar Shimeji-EE.jar to see error logs.
- Walk along the bottom/top edges of the screen.
- Climb up window borders.
- Hang from the top.
- Duplicate themselves (controlled via right-click menu).
- Throw other shimeji, interact with each other, and respond to mouse dragging.
⚠️ Security note: The directory typically scans uploads, but users should be cautious – any .jar can execute code. Stick to well-known uploaders.
