Manipur, a northeastern state of India, has a vibrant yet under-documented cinematic history (Manipuri cinema or “Mami Numit”). However, contemporary college students are redefining filmography—not merely as spectators but as active filmmakers, influencers, and archivists. With over 60% of Manipur’s college students owning a smartphone (Manipur Internet Society, 2025), the production of popular videos has exploded. This paper asks: What films and videos define the current Manipuri college student experience, and how do these digital artifacts shape their identity?
