MadMapper 5 is a major version of the industry-standard projection mapping and media server software developed by GarageCube . It is widely used by visual artists and event planners to transform surfaces into dynamic multimedia displays through video mapping, LED installations, and laser shows.

• Back up projects and media separately (project files vs. asset folders).
• Before major updates, export a copy of projects and note plugin versions.
• Read changelogs/release notes for compatibility issues.
• Test new versions on a non-critical machine if used in production.

1. Open MadMapper 5 – Close the welcome dialog.
2. Add a Surface: Click the + button under the Surfaces tab. Choose Quad (a simple rectangle).
3. Load a Test Image: Drag a JPEG or PNG onto the surface.
4. Add a Projector: Go to the Output menu > New Output. Choose your second monitor (or projector).
5. Map It: Use the corner handles to warp your image to fit a wall, a box, or even a face.
6. Add Audio Reaction: Click the Audio tab. Enable the microphone. Then, in the Surface’s Colors settings, link the “Brightness” slider to the audio amplitude. Wiggle the slider while music plays – the surface will pulse.
