While there isn't an official "LM2596" part in the standard Proteus base library that includes a simulation model, the community-created libraries are essential.
By default, Proteus installs libraries here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY (For Proteus 9, it is similar but may be under AppData local)
Locate the Library Folder:
Go to C:\ProgramData\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\Data\LIBRARY (Note: ProgramData is a hidden folder).
Step 3: Copy Model Files (If Provided)
Remember: A great simulation prevents a failed PCB. Spend the extra 10 minutes verifying the inductor current waveform and output ripple. With the LM2596 in your Proteus arsenal, you can confidently design 12V-to-5V systems, variable bench power supplies, and high-efficiency battery chargers.
