Set four years after the first film, ex-Major Jack Reacher returns to his old military unit to meet Major Susan Turner (played by Cobie Smulders). Upon arrival, he discovers she has been framed for espionage and arrested. Reacher himself is soon accused of a murder from his past and a paternity suit. The two become fugitives, working together to uncover a massive military-industrial conspiracy while protecting a 15-year-old girl who may or may not be Reacher's daughter.
