Strict Requirements
: In version 1.6, reaching the Ultimate often requires a "perfect" build path through four or five specific skills and nearly a dozen exact perks. In expansion 3.1, these requirements were loosened to require only three skills, making Ultimates viable in standard play. heroes 5 skill wheel 16 high quality
- The Level 2 Rule: If your first skill offer (Level 2) does not contain one of your "Core 3" skills (e.g., Logistics or Enlightenment for 90% of builds), reload the save. The seed is determined at level up.
- Exclude Trash: Never take Learning early. It dilutes the pool. Always take Enlightenment if available, as it increases your primary stats, making you qualify for higher tier skills later.
- Synergy over Growth: A common mistake is taking a Master skill (e.g., Master of Fire) at Level 10. Wait until Level 15. Take the base skill early, then the sub-skills late.
- The Witch Hut Gambit: Save your "free" skill from Witch Huts for the rarest skill in your wheel (usually Sorcery or Luck). Do not waste the hut on Logistics, which appears often.
- Spreading too thin: Avoid picking many minor bonuses across different domains; instead concentrate on 2–3 pillars your hero and army will actually use.
- Late Logistics: Mobility compounds; delaying it often costs map control and opportunities.
- Ignoring magic resistance: A powerful enemy mage can nullify your invested spell/army advantages quickly.
- Overreliance on summons without support: Summons often lack survivability—boost with Spell Power and protective spells/skills.
The Two "Void" Skills (High Risk, High Quality)
- Why: Counters enemy mages and reduces the effectiveness of enemy spells—game-changing in PvP and against AI mages.
- Synergy: Pair with your own spellcasting if you plan to brawl while resisting enemy magic.
- Use on: Any hero expecting to meet enemy spellcasters.
-
- Goal: Nature's Luck (Ultimate).
- Path: This is the most famous build. You must trace Avenger and Luck.
- How to read: On the wheel, find the Avenger skill. Trace the line to Elven Luck, then to Nature's Luck. This allows your units to deal double damage on almost every hit.
