Part 4: Extending or Converting Your Trial License

  1. Document your test scenarios before generating the license – every day counts.
  2. Use a lab network – Do not deploy trial VMs in production, even temporarily.
  3. Enable NTP immediately after first boot, even before licensing.
  4. Snapshot the unlicensed VM – After first boot but before license upload, take a snapshot. This allows you to revert and generate a new trial (using the same serial number) if something fails.
  5. Do not clone or move the VM after licensing – the UUID must remain static.
  6. Test HA (if needed) – For HA, you need two trial licenses (two separate serial numbers).
  7. Monitor expiration – Set a calendar reminder for day 13.
