The Mysterious "RH Install"
Introduction: A Journey Back to Virtual Tabletop History
- Fantasy Grounds II (FGII): This is the second major version of the software, released by SmiteWorks before the rebranding to just "Fantasy Grounds" and later the Unity engine. FGII was built on a legacy DirectX 9 engine.
- v2012: This refers to the build version from the year 2012. Key builds include v2.9.2 through v2.9.4. This era predates the unified updater. Patches were manual.
- Extras: Third-party content, community modules, custom rule sets, tokens, portraits, and extensions not included in the base installer.
- RH: This is the critical variable. In the FG community, “RH” often stands for a specific creator’s initials (e.g., “Rogue Hamster” or a community archivist), or it could refer to a compressed archive format (like a “.RAR” or “.7z” housed in a directory named RH). More commonly, “RH” is a placeholder for a source directory—meaning “Right Here” or a specific folder path containing loose extras.
- Install: The manual process of copying these files into the correct Application Data folder.
