If you’ve recently purchased a modern USB-C dongle DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter) for your wired headphones, there’s a high chance it contains the chip. It has become the industry standard for affordable, high-quality audio dongles, often competing directly with the Realtek ALC5686.
Step 4: Reboot & Configure
Disable Enhancements
: Right-click the device in Sound Settings > Properties and check "Disable all enhancements" if you experience popping or stuttering.
- Plug your USB-C to 3.5mm adapter into a USB port (use a USB-C to USB-A adapter if needed).
- Open Device Manager (Right-click Start button > Device Manager).
- Look for Sound, video and game controllers.
- You will likely see a generic "USB Audio Device."
- Right-click it and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Windows will query Microsoft Update. If Microsoft has cataloged the specific Conexant driver, it will install silently.
- Restart your PC.
Windows 10 and 11:
These systems automatically recognize the device using built-in USB Audio Class (UAC) 2.0 drivers.
