If you’ve recently purchased a modern USB-C dongle DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter) for your wired headphones, there’s a high chance it contains the chip. It has become the industry standard for affordable, high-quality audio dongles, often competing directly with the Realtek ALC5686.

Step 4: Reboot & Configure

Disable Enhancements

: Right-click the device in Sound Settings > Properties and check "Disable all enhancements" if you experience popping or stuttering.

1. Plug your USB-C to 3.5mm adapter into a USB port (use a USB-C to USB-A adapter if needed).
2. Open Device Manager (Right-click Start button > Device Manager).
3. Look for Sound, video and game controllers.
4. You will likely see a generic "USB Audio Device."
5. Right-click it and select Update driver.
6. Choose Search automatically for drivers.
7. Windows will query Microsoft Update. If Microsoft has cataloged the specific Conexant driver, it will install silently.
8. Restart your PC.

Windows 10 and 11:

These systems automatically recognize the device using built-in USB Audio Class (UAC) 2.0 drivers.
