A premise this high-concept can easily float away into absurdity if the actors don't ground it. The cast of Nazar delivers. There is a palpable exhaustion and terror in their performances. You believe they are cold, you believe they are scared, and most importantly, you believe they are capable of turning on each other. The lead performances carry the weight of the mystery without overacting, letting the haunting atmosphere do half the heavy lifting.
The title Chadar (meaning "blanket" or "sheet") is deceptively simple. Set against the stark, unforgiving landscape of a snow-laden Himalayan town (presumably near the Line of Control or a remote border area), the series introduces us to a paramilitary unit that stumbles upon something far more terrifying than enemy combatants. "Nazar" (The Evil Eye) is the thematic core of these first three episodes. The central plot revolves around a desolate, abandoned outpost, a mysterious symbol carved into the ice, and a young soldier who begins seeing visions of a spectral woman. What starts as a routine reconnaissance mission spirals into a claustrophobic nightmare where the real enemy might be a curse older than the mountains themselves.
